We are looking to expand our Lewisham Branch Homing Team and are seeking a cat enthusiast to join us.  Our homing officers play a vital role in our rescue centres finding new homes for our rescued cats, assessing offers of homes and matching adopters to suitable cats.

Much of the role involves face to face contact with the public so the successful applicant must be comfortable with talking to a wide variety of people as well as being passionate about cats and their welfare.  Our homing officers conduct initial phone interviews as well as carry out pre-adoption home visits with potentially suitable adopters to provide advice about caring for and settling in cats and kittens and assess suitability. A good knowledge of cats needs and behaviour is therefore essential as much of the advice we provide to potential adopters is educational as we strive to improve the welfare of cats.
Assisting with cat introductions between adopters and suitable cats at Lewisham and helping with our busy cat adoption Open Days at the weekends will also be part of the role.

Our homing staff come from a variety of backgrounds and relevant experience can include previous occupations such as cat fosterer, rescue centre volunteer, pet sitter, vet nurse  etc.  Full training alongside a current member of the team will be provided.

We rehome domestic cats throughout S.E London, S.W London and North Kent and feral cats to suitable homes in Kent, Sussex and Surrey so a full driving licence and confidence in driving is needed as carrying out home visits will be a significant part of this role.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours a week, to be worked over 5 days including weekends on a rota.
